Description: Join us for a scenic and historic adventure on the emerald green waters of the mighty
Yukon River! This fully-guided tour is an exciting and comfortable way to travel the river, take in the
sights and learn about the local history. The trip departs from Kanoe People in downtown Whitehorse
and travels north along the Yukon River to Lake Laberge.
The Yukon River continues to be an important lifeline for First Nations people as a hunting and fishing
corridor as well as a vital travel link to communities and river camps. The gold seekers of 1898 travelled
460 miles of river in makeshift boats to the gold fields of the Klondike. Paddle Wheelers came along
plying the Yukon River hauling people and freight. Along the river journey, keep a sharp eye out for
wildlife that may be seen including moose, bears, wolves and bald eagles perched along the clay banks.
Once we reach Lake Laberge, penned famous by Robert Service in the “Cremation of Sam McGee”, we
will be welcomed with spectacular scenery of mountains and the great expanse of the lake. A private
and secluded beach awaits you at Fox Bay Retreat, take a peaceful walk along the shoreline or to the
nearby viewing hill to take in panoramic views. Lunch will be enjoyed while sitting around the campfire.
Return transport is provided back to Whitehorse by shuttle van.
